Sarah Backe, PhD
Dr. Backe (she/her) is a licensed psychologist with specialized training in psychological, neuropsychological, and psychoeducational assessment. With years of experience in clinical practice, Dr. Backe brings a compassionate, evidence-based approach to helping children, adolescents, and their families navigate complex developmental, learning, and emotional challenges.
Dr. Backe earned her PhD in Counseling Psychology from Boston College, followed by an APA-accredited internship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. She also completed advanced training in neuropsychology through McLean Hospital | Harvard Medical School, where she further honed her ability to understand and assess differences in neurodevelopment, learning, and mental health. Over the years, she has worked in a variety of clinical settings, including hospitals, schools, and outpatient clinics, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for every child.
Dr. Backe’s clinical work focuses on the intersection of development, learning, and mental health. She believes in the power of a holistic, individualized approach to assessment and intervention, and is deeply committed to providing families with the knowledge and strategies they need to thrive. Her goal is always to provide empathy, foster understanding, and empower families to move forward with both confidence and practical solutions.
In addition to offering direct clinical services, Dr. Backe provides consultation and educational workshops for families, educators (including homeschool communities), and healthcare professionals, equipping them with the tools and understanding necessary to support all children in their learning and development.
